Two people were killed after a truck hit a van on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Gournadiupazila of Barishal district Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as fish trader Barun Das, 55, a resident of Sakokathi village in the upazila, and van driver AynalBepari, 60, a resident of Agarpur village in Babuganjupazila.

A Barishal-bound truck crashed into Aynal’s battery-operated van at Baichkhola of Batajor in Gournadiupazila while Aynal and Barun were going to Mahilara Bazar for buying fish, leaving the duo dead on the spot, said Golam Rasul Mollah, officer in-charge of Gournadi Highway Police Station.

Police seized the truck although the truck driver and his assistant managed to fell from the scene, said the OC.
