A motorcyclist and a pedestrian were killed and another was injured after a motorcycle hit a pedestrian at Bakerganjupazila inBarishal district on Monday.

The accident took place around 6:00 pm on the Barishal-Patuakhali highway in Ruhitarpar area in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sagor, 18, son of FaridMaji, a resident of Gilatoli area in the upazila. He was a 11th grader. And Nuruzzaman, 60, hailed from Sylhet City Corporation. He came Barishal with others for TablighiJamaat before some days.

Locals said Sagor and his friend Ome were going to BakerganjSadar from Lebukhali. When they arrived in the area, the motorcycle driver lost the control over the steering and hit Nuruzzaman while he was crossing the highway, leaving the duo dead on the spot, and Ome was injured.

Later, Ome was rescued and taken to upazila health complex where on-duty doctors referred him to BarishalSher-E-Bangla Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

On information, police recovered the bodies and legal steps are under process in this regard, said Afzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bakerganj Police Station.
