Two friends were killed after being hit by a dump truck on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway in Shibchar area of Madaripur district on Saturday night.

The accident occurred at around 11:30 pm on Saturday (February 15) in Purba Sanyasirchar area under Shibchar upazila.

The dead are Limon Bepari, 24, son of Nur Mohammad Bepari, a resident of Thengamara village, and Nayan Howlader, 24, son of Rustom Howlader of Bakharerkandi of the upazila. Both of them worked at a motorcycle garage in Suryanagar Bazar of Shibchar.

According to police, Nayan and Limon were on their way home riding on a motorcycle after finishing their workw. When they reached to the area, they came under collision by a sand-laden dump truck coming from the opposite direction. The motorcycle rider Limon Bepari died on the spot. Nayan Hawlader, who was behind him, was seriously injured. Nayan later died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Shibchar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahirul Islam confirmed it.
