2 killed in separate accidents in Sirajganj

Two people were killed in two separate accidents in Sirajganj.

A pedestrian was killed when a pickup van overturned after being hit by a bus at Mahishluti Baza’ar in Tarash Upazila on Saturday (October 25) morning.

On the other hand, an unidentified person died after being run over by a train at the Kodda intersection on the Dhaka-Iswardi railway track on the same day.

The first accident occurred at around 7:30 am on Saturday.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatikumrul Police Station Ismail Hossain said that, a speeding bus of Hanif Enterprise hit a pickup van from behind and the van overturned. At that time, pedestrian Nayeb Pramanik, 50, was crushed under the pickup and died on the spot.

The deceased Nayeb Pramanik is the son of late Rabbani Pramanik of Debipur village in Tarash Upazila. Police recovered the body and handed it over to the family.

On the other hand, Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Abu Sayeed said that an unidentified man, aged around 50, died after being crushed under the wheels of a train on the Dhaka-Iswardi railway line on Saturday morning. It is believed that, the accident occurred sometime during the night.

Upon receiving the information, the GRP (Railway Police) recovered the body in the afternoon and took it to the police station. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased.
