Two persons were killed in two separate incidents in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district.
Of them, a youth named Sirajul Islam, 29, son of late Shahadat Mandal of Purba Kaizuri village in the upazila was hacked to death by miscreants after calling him from his house on Tuesday night.
Police recovered his body from a road in the village on Wednesday morning.
Victim’s brother Azisul Islam said, Malaysian expatriate Sirajul returned to the country recently. On the date of occurrence, an unknown person called him and took away from his house, but he did not return to home at that night. After a search at the following morning, locals found his body on the road nearby his house and informed the matter to police.
In another incident, a man was killed as his wife fed him ‘gas tablet’ with the advice of her ex-lover. The incident took place at Nandolalpur village in the same upazila.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim, 25, son of Nabi Mandal of the village.
Quoting victim’s family members, police said, Karim married off Tanzila Khatun, daughter of Hashem Ali of Baoitola village in Sathiya upazila of Pabna district few days ago.
After marriage, he came to know that, Tanzila had an affair with her neighbor Nur Alam. As the incident came to light, Tanzila used to engage in quarrel with Karim almost every day centering the issue. At one stage on Monday night, she fed him gas tablet with the advice of her lover Nur Alam. When, Karim fell into sick with severe abdomen pain, he was taken to Enayetpur Kwaza Yunus Ali Medical College and Hospital, where he died on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment.
On information, police picked up the victim’s wife Tanzila from their house. During the preliminary interrogation, she confessed the allegation.
Both the bodies were sent to morgue for autopsy, said Shahzadpur thana OC Ali Aslam.
