Three people have been killed in Jamalpur town after a truck rammed a battery-run three-wheeler.
The accident occurred at the Beltia Tube Well Par intersection, according to Faysal Md Atik, chief of the Sadar Police Station.
The dead were identified as three-wheeler driver Rokon Mahmud, 45, chili trader Abdul Malek, 53, and Beltia Kamil Madrasa assistant teacher Maulana Mostafizur Rahman, 55.
A truck headed from Dhaka to Jamalpur rammed the passenger-carrying three-wheeler on the Jamalpur-Tangail road in the morning, OC Faysal said.
“The easybike was damaged and one person was killed on the spot. Locals rushed two other victims to the hospital in critical condition. They died on the way.”
Police and Fire Service personnel have recovered the bodies after the incident was reported.
The truck fled after the accident and efforts are underway to find it, the OC said.
