Three people including a driver were killed and minimum 25 others injured when two buses collided on Bhanga-Barisal highway in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district on Wednesday afternoon.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals and clinics.
The accident happened at about 4:30pm when a BRTC bus and another passenger bus belonging to Shahjalal Paribahan collided head-on on Bhanga-Barishal highway at Purbo Sadardi area under Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district.
However, the identities of the deceased could not be known till writing this report on Wednesday evening.
Witnesses said a Barishal-bound BRTC bus (Dhaka Metro-Ba 15-6393) collided head-on with Faridpur-bound Shahjalal Paribahan bus (Dhaka Metro-ba 11-0865) at about 4:30pm, leaving three people dead on the spot and injuring 25 others. The injured were admitted to different hospitals in Faridpur. Immediately after the accident, Fire Service and Highway Police personnel went to the spot and started rescue operation.
Bhanga Police Station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Abu Sayeed Mohammad Khairul Anam said a BRTC bus and another passenger bus belonging to Shahjalal Paribahan collided head-on on Bhanga-Barishal highway at Purbo Sadardi area under Bhanga upazila in the afternoon, leaving three people including the bus driver dead on the spot. The injured were admitted to different hospitals in Bhanga and Faridpur.
