Three people were killed in a collision between a bus and a private car in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila.

The accident took place around 3:30 am in front of Shila Rain Petrol Pump in Sutrapur area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The three deceased were Moslem Uddin, 30, son of Syed Ali of Pakand Pir Bari area under Madhupur Police Station, Jewel, 32, son of Sekandar Ali, and Nasir Uddin, 23, son of Sabur Mia of the same area.

Naojor Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahidul Islam said a private car was going to Madhupur in Tangail from Dhaka. After reaching that area, the car was taking u-turn to get gas. At that time, a Dhaka-bound speeding bus hit the private car. The car overturned on the road and Nasir Uddin died on the spot. Three people of the private car were seriously injured.

The injured were rescued and taken to hospital where doctors announced Jewel and Moslem dead, the SI added.
