Mohammad Riaz Uddin, Khalilur Rahman Sirajee and Engineer Aminul Islam have been elected as Chairman respectively in Sirajganj Sadar, Kazipur and Belkuchi Upazila Parishad elections held on Wednesday.
Mohammad Riaz Uddin has earned a landslide victory as Chairman for Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Parishad with the pineapple symbol. He won the post getting 47807 votes, while his nearest contestant Rashed Yusuf Jewel, who contested with Ink pot and pen, got 43984 votes.
Khalilur Rahman Sirajee, General Secretary of Kazipur Upazila AL has won the post of Chairman for Kazipur Upazila Parishad with the pineapple symbol getting 45,131 votes, while his nearest contestant Ashraful Alam, who contested with horse symbol, got 27,684 votes. On the other hand, Engineer Aminul Islam Sarker has won the Chairman post for Belkuchi Upazila Parishad getting 54842 votes. His nearest contestant Badiuzzaman, who raced with motorcycle symbol, got 49357 votes.
Sirajganj District Returning Officer Mohammad Shahidul Islam non-officially (informally) announced the result after completion of voting in three upazilas throughout Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
