Police recovered four bodies, of whom three were women, from separate areas in Sirajganj on Wednesday night and Thursday.

The bodies were identified as those of Mohona Khatun, 22, of Narina Dangapara village, Khushi Khatun, 42, of Kharua Jongla, and Shirin Khatun, 40, of Batiapara village under Shahjadpur upazila.

The fourth was an unidentified youth (male) whose body was found floating in the Jamuna River in Chowhali upazila of the district.

According to police, two of them committed suicide. Mohona reportedly died by hanging herself following a family dispute, while Khushi apparently took poison for unknown reasons.

Shirin drowned while washing clothes near a pond.

Locals spotted the unidentified body floating in the river and informed the police.

Mohona and the unidentified man’s bodies were sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The other two were handed over to their families as no complaints were filed.

Separate cases were filed with the respective police stations.
