The country has recorded 3,554 murders, 4,105 rapes, 819 kidnappings and 12,726 cases of women and child abuse in the 10 months from September 2024 to June 2025, according to data released by the Police Headquarters shared the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The figures also include 97 incidents of rioting, 1,730 smuggling cases, 1,526 incidents of banditry, 610 robberies, 38,176 drug-related crimes and 7,310 thefts. Altogether, 144,955 cases were filed across the country during this period, including 898 under speedy trial provisions.

Citing the Police Headquarters, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing said in a statement that according to the Police Headquarters, “The trend of major crimes has remained stable in the last 10 months.”

The statement said that the crime rate in the country has increased significantly this year – such news published in various media outlets has created panic and insecurity in the public mind.

An analysis of government crime statistics from September 2024 to June 2025 shows that the number of major crimes has increased significantly this year – such a claim is not correct.

Analyzing the information provided by the Police Headquarters, it is seen that 1,933 murders, 2,744 rapes, 517 kidnappings and 367 robberies occurred in the 6 months from January to June of this year.

Earlier, in 2024, there were 4,114 murders, 4,394 rapes, 642 kidnappings and 490 robberies in the entire year.

The press wing’s statement said that the statistics show no signs of a rapid increase in major crimes. In fact, the rate of most serious crimes is decreasing or remaining at the same level. However, a slight increase in certain crimes has been observed.

The press wing urged citizens to be vigilant and said, “We must also have faith in the law enforcement agencies. Because the crime rate is fairly stable, which shows that the situation is under control.”
