41 sacks of fair-priced rice allocated for the poor was seized from the Chaubila Arambaza’ar area in Ullapara Upazila of Sirajganj district on Friday, while those were taking for sale in the black market, said Ullapara Upazila Food Controller Shafiqul Islam.
But, no one was arrested in the connection.
Shafiqul Islam said that, the government fair-priced rice was being taken for sale in the black market. Locals informed to police, while they found the truck loaded with the government rice.
Police reached to the spot and recovered 41 sacks of 50 kg each (total 2,050 kg) of rice and kept those in the government warehouse, he said.
The Food Department official said that, necessary action will be taken after talking to the Upazila Executive Officer in this regard.
