A total of 49,103 Bangladeshi pilgrims have reached to the Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA) for Hajj so far. Additionally, one more Bangladeshi pilgrim has passed away, bringing the total number of Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims who have died to seven.
According to the latest Hajj Bulletin from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the latest death was reported.
The deceased, Md. Zainal Hossain (60), was from Gazipur Sadar and traveled under a private management arrangement.
The bulletin states that, as of midnight on Saturday, a total of 124 flights from three airlines have transported 49,103 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
This year, a total of 87,100 pilgrims from Bangladesh are expected to perform Hajj. Among them, 5,200 pilgrims are traveling under government arrangements, while 81,900 pilgrims are under private arrangements.
To facilitate the transport of pilgrims, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has operated 62 flights, Saudi Airlines has flown 42 flights, and Flynas Airlines has conducted 16 flights so far.
The Hajj pilgrimage is scheduled to be held on June 5, depending on the sighting of the moon. Flights carrying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia began on April 29 and will continue until May 31.
Return flights for pilgrims will commence on June 10 and end on July 10.
