The police on Sunday submitted an application to the court seeking a 5-day remand for quizzing Dr. Abdul Aziz, also former Member of Parliament from Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj-Tarash) constituency in a case filed for attacking on students and attempting to murder them.

General Registration Officer (GRO) of Tarash Administrative Court Shiuli Khatun confirmed this information on Sunday afternoon and said that, “The police have applied for a 5-day remand for questioning former MP Abdul Aziz. The remand hearing was not held because of the case documents were in the judge’s court. The remand hearing will be held after reaching the documents to the administrative court from the district judge’s court.”
The charge sheet in the case states that, during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 4, students gathered in front of GKS Government Primary School in Tarash Upazila. At that time, Awami League leaders and activists including MP Abdul Aziz attacked the students with sticks, foreign pistols and iron rods. They also blasted crude bombs targeting the mobs. Several students including local student coordinator Sabbir Khandaker were injured in the attack.
Sabbir Khandaker’s father Saiful Khandaker filed a case with Tarash Police Station accusing Awami League leaders and activists. Of them, former MP Abdul Aziz was also made the main accused.
