Major reshuffle in police

In a major reshuffle, the Bangladesh Police has transferred 53 officers and promoted 104 people assistant superintendents to the post of additional superintendents of police.
The Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued separate notifications, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman, in this regard.
As per one notification issued on Thursday (February 27), out of the 53 officers transferred at once, 19 are additional DIGs, 33 are superintendent of police and one is an additional superintendent of police.
As per another notification issued yesterday (26 February), 104 police officers have been promoted from assistant superintendent of police to additional superintendent of police Of them, 102 have been promoted normally and two have been promoted retrospectively.
Earlier on 25 February, 82 senior police officials, who served as superintendent of police (SP) and chief of various units of Bangladesh Police during the Awami League regime, were made Officers on Special Duty (OSD).
The police officials include additional inspector general of Police, deputy inspector general (DIG), additional DIGs, SPs, and additional deputy commissioners of police.
Prior to that, four Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs) were sent on forced retirement on 23 February, while three secretaries and 18 additional secretaries faced forced retirement on February 20 for their roles in the last three national elections under the ousted Awami League regime.
