Rangpur Correspondent:
The government will build a 560-bed specialized hospital for kidney, cancer and heart disease in Rangpur. The budget has already been approved for this.
Health and Family Welfare Advisor Nurjahan Begum said this while talking to reporters after visiting Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The advisor said, “As the number of patients at Rangpur Medical College Hospital is more than the number of beds, many have to receive treatment on the floor. That is why the government has taken the initiative to build this specialized hospital. Although it might not be implemented during the tenure of the current government, the next government will implement it.”
He said, “The government has decided to purchase equipment for hospitals through e-GP. If this initiative is implemented, it will be possible to eliminate irregularities and syndicates in the health sector to a great extent. The government is trying to break all types of syndicates to ensure healthcare.”
Nurjahan Begum said, “Many doctors, nurses and technologists, including many others involved in medical services, have died during the Covid-19 period. We have respect for them, because their contribution is unforgettable. Even then, action is being taken against those involved in various criminal activities including syndicates.”
She also said, “In July Movement, some have lost their hands, some have lost their legs, and some have lost their eyes. Those who do syndicating have not seen these things. Will there be no change among them? So if there is no change among you and me, how will the country change? Everyone has to think about these things what am I doing.”
Regarding Rangpur Children’s Hospital, she said, “I will visit the Children’s Hospital. There is no reason not to start it. However, to start a hospital, manpower and equipment are needed. The previous government did not plan for this. However, we have the matter in mind.”
Earlier, the advisor visited various departments of Rangpur Medical College Hospital and Taraganj Upazila Health Complex.
