Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 in a raid on Friday afternoon arrested three drug peddlers along with 57kg of marijuana from Sayedabad area, also western side of the Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge, in Sirajganj district.
The arrested were identified as Al-Amin, 25, son of Ali Ashraf and Sabbir Hossain, 19, son of Lokman Hossain, both hailed from Puabari village in Cumilla district and Anis Ahmed, 22, son of Morshed Alam of Hosenpur village in Sirajganj town.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB forces set up a makeshift check post at Sayedabad area on the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge at around 5:00pm and recovered the mentioned amount of hemp after searching a pickup-van. Later, the RAB forces arrested the three persons in connection with the incident, said Mohammad Ilias Khan, Squadron Leader of RAB-12 through a press briefing.
During the drive, RAB forces also seized four cell phones along with four SIM cards and cash Tk 6,670 from the possessions of the arrested.
A case was also lodged with the respective police station in this connection, he added.
