79 AL men sued in Bogura for attacking BNP activists

A case has been filled against 79 leaders and activists of the Awami League at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district.

A local BNP leader, Abdul Motin, filed the case with Nandigram Police Station against 79 people, mentioning 54 names, in connection with an attack on BNP leaders and activists while they were hanging a banner on founding anniversary of BNP.

The key accused in the case are Kalipada Sarkar, president of Burail Union Awami League ; Mozammel Haque, secretary of Burail Union Awami League; and Zulfikar Ali Fakkar, president of Bhatgram Union Awami League.

Belayat Hossain, secretary of Nandigram BNP upazila unit, said, ” Some people, including Rahi, Faruque, and Fakkar attacked on our leaders and activists while they were hanging the banner in the Cakatala area under Burail union in the upazila. Three of our activists were injured in the incident, and two of them have been admitted to a hospital.”

Denying the allegations,Kalipada Sarkar, president of Burail Union Awami League, said that it is a false case.

No arrests have not been made yet, but the efforts are ongoing to arrest the accused, said Azomgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Nandigram Police Station
