7th years since the departure of rock legend Ayub Bachchu

On Saturday marks the seventh death anniversary of legendary singer, guitarist, composer and lyricist Ayub Bachchu, who passed away on this day in 2018 at the age of 56.

Ayub Bachchu was the first in the music scene of this country to create a new genre in band songs. It is difficult to find an audience that has not been impressed by his guitar playing and singing. Even though time has passed, the songs, melodies and emotions left by Bachchu are still alive today.

The legendary frontman of rock band LRB, was born at Patiya upazila of Chattogram on 16 August 1962.

He started his music career in his birthplace Chattogram with the band Feelings in 1978. Then, he joined the band Souls in 1980, one of the pioneers in the band movement of Bangladesh.

In 1991, he left Souls and formed LRB (Love Runs Blind). LRB released its first album, which contained hard rock songs like “Ghum Vanga Shohore”, “Madhobi” and “Hoker”, “Sesh Chithi Keno Amon Chithi Hoy”, “Happy”, and “Dhakar Sondha”.

In 1993, LRB released their album “Sukh”. It contained hard rock, blues, rock songs. Like “Sukh”, “Gotokal Rate”, “Khoniker Jonno”, “Cholo Bodle Jai” known as “Sei Tumi”, “Rupali Guitar” etc. “Cholo Bodle Jai” one of the greatest hits in the Bangladeshi music era, written and tuned by Bachchu.

LRB performed thousands of gigs at home and abroad. They went for their first international tour in the USA and they played in seven states. LRB is the only Bangla Rock Band that played their music in the famous Madison Square Garden (New York).

Notable songs of Ayub Bachchu are “Rupali Guitar”, “Cholo Bodle Jai”, “Ghumonto Shohore”, “Ferari”, “Meye”, “Tumiki Dukkho Cheno”, “Koshto Pete Bhalobashi”, “Ek Akasher Tara”, “Moyna”, “Manush BoroEka”, “Boro Babu Master”, “Bangladesh”, “Rater Tara”, “Kede Kede Jabo”, “Mon Chaile Mon Pabe”, “Sharey Tin Hat Mati”, “Lolona”, “Baro Mash”, “Ki Kore Bolle Tumi?”, “Nodir Buke Chad” and “Ural Debo Akashe”.

The music legend breathed his last at Moghbazar residence in the capital on 18 October 2018 at the age of 56.
