The July Shaheed Smrity Foundation has provided assistance to families of over 87% of the gazetted martyrs.

At a press conference organized by the foundation at Shahbagh, Dhaka, on Friday, Chief Executive Officer Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, shared the information.

Snigdho said: “Our foundation began its operations on September 10 last year. Since then, we have provided a total of Tk37.25 crore to 745 martyr families, accounting for 87.13% of the total martyr families. However, assistance for 100 martyr families remains pending due to legal complications.”

“Among the injured, 5,596 individuals have received Tk59.41 crore, covering 38.39% of the total injured. A total of Tk96.67 crore from the government fund allocated for injured and martyr families has been spent,” he said.

Another executive member of the foundation said at the press conference: “Beyond financial assistance, we have undertaken various projects for the injured and martyr families. We have engaged with different institutions to explore employment opportunities for the injured.

“Additionally, we are working to arrange educational scholarships and vocational training programs to help the injured regain their ability to work. We have several plans in place.”
