At least nine persons including women were injured in a clash between two groups of people in Belkuchi of Sirajganj district on Tuesday.
The injured are: Hafizul Islam, 50, Abdur Rahman, 45, Abdullah, 35, Ayub Ali, 30, Arifur Rahman Arif, 28, Rana, 29, Kohinur Begum, 40, Hawa Khatun, 32, and Shoishob, 26.
Of them, critical injured were admitted to Upazila Health Complex in Belkuchi and General Hospital in Sirajganj.
Police and eye witnesses said, Hafizul Islam, who has been cultivating fishes in a pond nearby Belkuchi Poura Bhaban for long after taking it lease. But, he raised a complaint against Abdur Rahman, who lives nearby the pond over catching fish from the pond without his knowledge. Centering the issue, people from the both groups belonging to local BNP engaged in a clash. At that time, they attacked and chased each others, hurled brickbats that left nine persons from the both groups injured.
Saiful Islam, Sub-Inspector of Belkuchi police station said, police visited the spot and brought the situation under control. We will take legal action after receiving written complaint in this regard. Now, we are observing the situation.”
