Quota reform: 4 students shot, injured in clash at JnU

Four students were shot and injured while holding a protest march on Jagannath University (JnU) campus demanding reforms in the government job quota system.

Of them, three were JnU students and another was from Kabi Nazrul Governemnt College.

The incident took place around 3:30pm on Tuesday.

The injured JnU students are Anik from the Marketing Department, Antu from the Management Studies Department, and Ferdous from the Management Studies Department. Another injured Hasib is a student of Islamic Studies Department at Kabi Nazrul Government College.

The injured students were first taken to Dhaka National Medical Hospital. From there, they were moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that the Jagannath University students organized a protest march as part of the “Anti-Discrimination Student Movement” to demand quota reforms and to protest against the attacks on demonstrators by Chhatra League in various locations on Monday.

When the march reached the road adjacent to the CMM Court near the university, they were attacked by miscreants. During the attack, the assailants fired shots at the students, injuring three of them.
