Month-long event begins at Shilpakala Academy

On the occasion of National Mourning Day and the death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a month-long programme titled “Mourning August”.

As part of the programme, a month-long exhibition on Bangabandhu began at Jatiya Chitrashala Gallery 1 of Shilpakala on Thursday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Director General of the academy Liaquat Ali Lucky. A total of 210 works featured in the exhibition include sculpture, installation art, painting and video art.

The exhibition will continue till 31 August.

In addition, a painting exhibition titled “Bangabandhu Ebong Rabindranath” will be held at Gallery 7 of Shilpakala Academy on 7 August as part of the programme. In the exhibition, 45 artworks (replicas) of the poet Rabindranath Tagore and more than a hundred paintings on the poet will be displayed.

Besides, an art camp will be organised on 12 August at the Mausoleum complex of the Father of the Nation in Tungipara, Gopalganj. Famous artists of Bangladesh will participate in the art camp.
