There are reports that Mohammad Harun ar Rashid, former chief of the Detective Branch (DB) and current additional commissioner (Crime and Ops) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), was detained at the airport.

However, Harun himself has claimed that he was not been detained.

On Tuesday afternoon, he clarified his situation in a phone conversation, when asked if he was detained.

Harun ar Rashid responded, “I went to my office in the morning. Finding no one there, I returned home.”

Regarding rumours of leaving the country, Harun ar Rashid said, “Do you (journalists) want to mean that I have returned from the airport? How could I have gone to the airport yesterday when flights were not operational? Flights resumed today. The rumour about going abroad is baseless.”

Earlier, on July 31, Harun ar Rashid was transferred from the Detective Branch to Crime and Operations Division of the DMP.
