Pagla Mosque donation boxes set new record for collecting 28 sacks of cash

A record 28 sacks of cash were found in 9 iron donation boxes of Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj. The donation box of the mosque was opened at around 7 am on Saturday (August 17). After that, the cashes were filled in 28 sacks one by one for two hours till 9 am.

Earlier, the donation boxes at Pagla Mosque were opened last April 20. At that time, 27 sacks of cash were recovered, surpassing all previous records. It is expected that this time the amount of money will surpass the previous record.

The donation boxes were opened in the presence of Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh. A large number of Army, Police, and Ansar members were also present.

Kishoreganj DC and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said that after 3 months and 26 days, 9 donation boxes of Pagla Mosque were opened on Saturday morning. This time, a trunk was given as the day was longer. Later, the work of counting the money started by bringing it to the floor of the mosque. Hopefully, something good is going to happen this time too.

A team of 220 people including Additional District Magistrate Mohua Mumtaz, Imam Mufti Khalilur Rahman and Rupali Bank Assistant General Manager (AGM) Rafiqul Islam, CBA leader Anwar Parvez and members of the mosque management committee and teachers and students of madrassas and orphanages located in the mosque complex took part in money counting. The amount of this donation will be obtained after counting the money throughout the day.

The money received from the donation of the mosque is spent on various social welfare works as well as various mosques, madrassas and orphanages in the district along with the related mosques.

Earlier, on April 20 this year, a record of Tk 7,78,67,537 was obtained from 27 sacks of 9 donation boxes, which broke all previous records and created new records. Before this, it was opened on 9 December 2023 and a record of Tk 6,32,51,423 was received. Besides, foreign currency and gold ornaments are also available.
