The release of several Bengali films has been postponed following the tragic incident at Kolkata’s RG Kar. Industry insiders reveal that many are hesitant to kickstart promotions for Puja-special releases under these circumstances.

Additionally, there are rumours that a new film might be added to the lineup of Puja-special releases.

With SVF films absent from the Puja season lineup, the competition has significantly eased, prompting many to seize the last-minute opportunity to release their films during the festivities.

Rumours are swirling in Tollywood that director Pratim D Gupta is eager to launch his film “Chalchitra” starring Apurba during Puja. Film producer Firdausul Hasan is reportedly on board with this plan. Notably, Pratim recorded the first song of the film with Rupam Islam just this Tuesday, indicating that the team is gradually working towards completing the project. Now, all eyes are on whether “Chalchitra” will make it to the Puja release schedule.

when asked about what prompted him to accept the role in “Chalchitra”, Apurba remarked, “It was the narrative. The storyline of ‘Chalchitra’ held the greatest allure for me. Bengali audiences have an affection for storytelling, and I, too, fell in love with the narrative. It features extraordinary characters and offers a distinctive thrill.”

The thriller film boasts a star-studded cast including, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anirban Chakrabarty, and Raima Sen, among others. Bollywood’s Shantanu Maheshwari also plays a key role, and our very own Bangladeshi actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba makes a special appearance.

In that same interview, Apurba reflected on his time working in Kolkata’s film industry, expressing, “It was a memorable journey, one that will always stay with me. The people in Kolkata were incredibly respectful, and their sincerity was evident in every interaction. As an artiste, I’ll forever cherish the memories of my experience in Kolkata.”

Recently, Apurba made his Tollywood silver screen debut with the film “Chalchitra”. In the film, he shared the screen with Indian actress Raima Sen.
