Favoritism should not exist in the country, said Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

He said, “Appointing someone to a position, forcing someone to resign, collecting donations, or engaging in favouritism—these are practices of the distant past and we want to lock these away”

“In various parts of the country, our names or signatures are being forged to issue threats and file cases, all with the intent to discredit our movement,” Hasnat told reporters after a meeting with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Thursday (29 August).

“There is no way to misuse the name of our coordinator for any special privileges. The system will function as it should, and the ACC will operate according to its laws,” he said.

Another coordinator Sarjis Alam, who was also present with him, said, “We discussed with the ACC chairman how the commission can emerge from the image crisis it has faced over the past 16 years so that the ACC can regain the trust of the people.”
