Two security officers were stabbed to death while trying to prevent a robbery at the SS Power Plant, a coal-based power plant jointly owned by S Alam Group, located in Gandamara area under Banshkhali Upazila of Chattogram.

The deceased were identified as Sarwar Alam (51), a retired warrant officer of the Bangladesh Army and Rasheed Jawardar (22), a security officer at the power plant.

According to police sources, two young men attempted to steal from the power plant on Sunday night. When the security officers tried to catch them, the assailants stabbed the officers and fled the scene.

The two severely injured security officers were taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex, where doctor declared them dead.

Banshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tofail Ahmed said additional police forces have been deployed at the scene and legal actions will be taken.
