Public health nutritionists, dietitians, public health experts, and nutrition workers across Bangladesh have issued a warning regarding the unsafe child food distribution in flood-affected areas.
In a statement Monday, they have expressed deep concern about the potential health risks posed by certain food items being provided as relief.
The nutritionists highlighted that while the generosity of those distributing food to flood victims is commendable, some of the items being distributed, particularly for children, could be harmful.
The statement specifically pointed to the distribution of powdered milk, commercially prepared chemical juices, and certain cereals. These products, they argue, could have serious negative impacts on the health of children in the flood-affected regions.
