A Dhaka court on Monday granted a 5-day remand for former Awami League lawmaker Haji Mohammad Salim in a case filed over the killing of an 11th grader during the government job quota reform protests.

Along with Haji Salim, ousted premier Sheikh Hasina, and 50 others are also accused over the killing that occurred in the capital’s Lalbagh area on 18 July.

On Monday afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Akteruzzaman passed the remand order after Investigation Officer Akkas Miah, a sub-inspector of Lalbagh Police Station, produced Haji Salim before the court asking to put the Awami League leader on a 10-day remand.

Haji Salim, whose name was mentioned in the FIR of the murder case, was arrested from the capital’s Bangshal area Sunday night.
