“Awami League (AL) and their individuals will be tried as a party first for the genocide. After that, the people will decide whether they can do politics or not,” said Nahid Islam, an Adviser to the Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Deutsche Welle (DW). Apart from this, Nahid also talked about the students’ political parties, his personal political aspirations, militancy, genocide cases, digital security law (DSA), and election system reforms.

To a query regarding neutrality from the Interim Government, Adviser Nahid said, “We have made this revolt against fascism and we are in government to fulfill this pledge. The objective and goal are the same – we want to abolish this fascist structure and build a new Bangladesh, where social justice and democracy will be guaranteed.”

Asked about the list of casualties in the movement, Adviser Nahid said, “A committee has been formed from our Ministry of Health, which includes members of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD). They are dealing with the injured. Besides, we are working on martyrs. It is almost at the end and the foundation, that foundation is also working with the work of this list.”

About reforms, the Information Adviser said, “We are thinking of comprehensive reforms. This is what we said during the revolt – we want a new political settlement. In 15/16 years, the entire state structure of Bangladesh has rotted and collapsed. In that case, if it is not possible to reform all the sectors as a whole, then the problem will not be solved.”

“The work is underway to solve the problem by maintaining overall communication,” Adviser Nahid added.
