TDS Desk:
The anti-discrimination participating job aspirants have made two point demands, including the quick publish of the results of the primary assistant teacher recruitment examination held on March 29 this year. They have warned of a strict program if the demand is not accepted within the next 72 hours.
They made these demands at a press conference organized by the job aspirants at Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club in the capital on Monday.
In the press conference, it was said that the written examination for the recruitment of primary assistant teachers (Dhaka and Chattogram divisions) was held on March 29, 2024. A total of, 46,199 aspirants passed it. Their viva voce was conducted from May 9 to June 12. After almost three months, the results have not been published yet. According to the Primary Assistant Teacher Recruitment Rules 2019, 60 per cent female, 20 per cent dependant and 20 per cent male quotas have been fixed, which they said is demeaning to merit.
All previous circulars-notifications-orders-instructions-discipline related to quota have been cancelled through the notification, so there should not be any legal complications in following 93 percent merit and 7 percent quota in the recruitment of primary assistant teachers. Therefore, as per the latest notification regarding the quota issued by the Ministry of Public Administration in the preparation of the result of this recruitment, we ordinary students held a human chain program for 3 days in front of the Directorate of Primary Education, demanding 93% merit and 7% quota.
It was also said in the press conference that the Chief Adviser called for written demands instead of movement. According to the advice of the chief adviser, instead of human chain or movement, we have submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, demanding merit-based recruitment. But the authorities were not seen to take any visible action in this regard.
Their two-point demand is to cancel Primary Assistant Teacher Recruitment Rules 2019 and publish the result quickly based on 93 percent merit and 7 percent quota as per the latest gazette of the Ministry of Public Administration. The other is that the maximum number of teachers should be appointed to fill the vacancies by July 31.
