Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has ordered the authorities concerned to take measures for stopping border killings.
Making the disclosure on Tuesday after a Secretariat meeting on maintaining law and order during the upcoming Durga Puja, Jahangir told journalists, “There has been some discussion about border killings at Tuesday’s meeting.
“I have ordered the authorities concerned to take the necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the coming days. I hope such incidents do not happen in the future.”
The adviser added, “Another problem arises during the puja, as our people cross over to the other side to see puja, and people from the other side come here as well.
“I have requested authorities to facilitate the building of spectacular puja mandaps this year in the border belt, so that our people do not cross over to the other side to see puja. I have also asked authorities to take measures so that people from the other side do not come here.”
