TDS Desk:

Weeks after granting magistracy power to Bangladesh Army officers, the government has now been given the power to commissioned officers of the remaining two armed military forces – Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Navy.

The public administration ministry issued a new circular on 29 September to this end, amending the previous circular that granted the power to the Bangladesh Army on 17 September.

In the latest notification, the ministry granted the magistracy power to all commissioned members of the armed forces.

In the 17 September notification, the Ministry of Public Administration said the eligible army officers will be able to act as executive magistrates across the country for the next 60 days.

The army magistrates will conduct their activities in respect of offences under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 (CRPC), earlier the notification added.

These conditions have been kept unchanged in the latest notification.
