Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call to President Mohammed Sahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the President’s press wing.

The statement reads, “During the meeting, the Army Chief briefed the President on the overall activities of the Army. He informed the President that army units across the country are working to assist the civilian administration.”

“The President acknowledged the Army’s commendable role in the welfare of the people and in ensuring the safety of lives and property. He expressed hope that the Army will continue to stand by the people in times of natural disasters and whenever the country and its citizens need them,” it added.
