TDS Desk:

In becoming an International Master, Manon has broken Grandmaster Niaz Morshed’s record. Manon is now the youngest International Master from Bangladesh, surpassing Niaz.

Born on 13 May 1966, Niaz became an International Master on 13 October 1981 at the Asian Zonal in Sharjah. He was 15 years and 5 months old at the time. Manon, born on 18 June 2010, is now 14 years and 3 months old, making him the country’s youngest International Master.

To achieve the International Master title, one needs a rating of 2400 and three norms. Manon’s rating has already surpassed 2400, so he will not have to wait for the title to be officially conferred.

With Manon’s achievement, the number of International Masters in Bangladesh now stands at five. The other four are Zillur Rahman, Abu Sufian, Minhaj Uddin, and Fahad Rahman.

Among them, Fahad already holds one Grandmaster norm and is also participating in this tournament in Hungary. A win in today’s final round could secure Fahad his second Grandmaster norm.
