Tapashee Tabassum Urmi, an assistant commissioner in Lalmonirhat district, has been suspended following her controversial remark regarding the interim government on Facebook. She was suspended and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against her.

This time a defamation case has been filed against Taapsee Tabassum Urmi.

Abu Hanif, senior council member and media coordinator of the People’s Rights Council, filed this petition in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain on Tuesday.

The court said that after recording the statement of the plaintiff, the order will be issued in this regard.

Plaintiff’s lawyer, Khademul Islam confirmed this.

It is said in the application of the case that on October 5, despite being in a responsible position in the government the accused Urmi, wrote a controversial remark not only about martyr Abu Sayed but also about the chief advisor of the interim government. Facebook also wrote insulting statements against Muhammad Yunus. According to the Court, Urmi has maligned a constitutionally constituted head of government and created fear among the public by threatening to overthrow the government.

On October 5, she wrote on Facebook that the interim government has no constitutional basis.

“The chief adviser of the interim government which has no constitutional base said a push has been made on reset button, and history got erased. He has removed all histories of the county by clicking the reset button. Is it too easy? your (Yunus) countdown has started, Sir,” the post read.

When asked about the post, she said, “I gave a post and it is enough. I made it only me. Transfer can be on several grounds and I don’t want to make any comment in this regard.”

She also said, “There is no problem if I am terminated for this. Our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu is a settled truth. Erasing history by pressing the reset button, what stands for it? Therefore I assume the anti-liberation forces are in power in the country. It has been termed as July genocide, these all are upon investigation, not settled true. It hasn’t been proven yet.”

It was found on her Facebook that she took a strong position against the mass upsurge and uploaded several posts in favor of the then Awami League government.
