Thousands of people in Kazibakai and Dasar Unions under Dasar upazila of Madaripur district have been facing immense sufferings for long due to dilapidated condition of Delorbazar-Darshana road.

Though, a few portion of the road was constructed with bricks two decades ago, it has now turned to unfit for vehicular movements due to lack of renovation. Consequently, movement of students, patients and others with vehicles or non-vehicles has become seriously difficult.

Due to innumerable potholes and cracks on the road, vehicles almost face accidents. Even after placing several allegations to the authorities concerned, no effective measure has yet been taken by the authorities except providing some assurances.

Like the previous period, LGED Executive Engineer Badal Chandra Kirtaniya made the same comment, “Necessary action would be taken soon after an inspection to the road along with upazila engineer. We will write to the high-ups seeking necessary fund to develop the earthen road to Pacca road.”

Locals said, the condition of two kilometers road out of five kilometers from Maizpara to Badamtola has become seriously ramshackle. Movement throughout the road has become difficult. Due to such dilapidated condition, accidents have turned into a regular phenomenon on the road. But, no impact was found even after filing several complaints to the authorities concerned, local alleged.

Ajed Bepary, member of ward no-2 in Kazibakai union told The Daily Sky that, “This is one of the important roads in the upazila for communicating with other areas. Thousands of people from different villages in the area move throughout the road regularly. But, the commuters face immense sufferings due to its ramshackle condition as the road has remained neglected for long.”
