A special train will be launched on Saturday to transport agricultural goods from Chapainawabganj to Dhaka at lower costs in order to curb the rising prices of essential commodities.
Farmers and traders from the border district Chapainawabganj will be able to transport vegetables and agricultural products to the capital and the cost of transporting the products via this train will be Tk1.30 per kilogram and from Rajshahi Tk 1.18 per kilogram.
The information was disclosed at a views exchange meeting with the stakeholders at Rajshahi Railway Station on Thursday.
Bangladesh Railway (West) Chief Commercial Manager Sujit Kumar Biswas presided the meeting while Bangladesh Railway Director General (West Zone) Mamunul Islam was the chief guest.
Sujit Kumar said modern coaches recently imported from China have been added to the train to maintain the quality of the products.
The train will left the Rohanpur railway station at 9.15AM towards Dhaka with the product and will reach the Tejgaon railway station at 5.20PM. The train will stop at 13 railway stations, including Rajshahi before arriving Tejgoan Railway station in Dhaka.
There will be a Refrigerated Luggage van for storage the fish and meat and other perishable products.
