The contractual appointment of Chattogram Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) Managing Director (MD) AKM Fazlullah has been cancelled.

A notification, signed by Abdur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Local Government Division, was issued in this regard on Thursday.

Fazlullah has served as CWASA Managing Director for the past 15 years under a contractual agreement during the Awami League government’s administration

Fazlullah joined WASA began in 1968 as an assistant engineer. After serving in different ranks, he retired as a supervising engineer in 2000.

However, after Awami League came to power, he was appointed on 6 July, 2009, as the chairman of the Chattogram Wasa Board for one year, but he served in that position for two years.

In 2011, Fazlullah was appointed as the Chattogram WASA MD when the position was created following the restructuring of the board. Since then, he managed to extend his term six times in the past 15 years.
