Turning youths into skilled manpower stressed to accelerate progress

Officials in a discussion have stressed on imparting technical education and training to the youth to turn them into skilled manpower to accelerate national progress.

They expressed the onion at the discussion jointly organised by district administration and Department of Youth Development (DYD) in observance of the National Youth Day-2024 on Friday at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference in the city.

Newly appointed Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal in the chair.

Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Md Aminul Islam spoke as special guest.

DYD Deputy Director Md Abdul Farooque and female entrepreneur Farhana Begum, among others, addressed.

The speakers stressed on turning all youths into skilled workforce through imparting technical education and training to them for enhancing their knowledge and skill and self confidence to speed up productivity for national advancement.

The chief guest said there is no substitute for training. There are about six crore youth and young women in the country. Everyone should come forward to build the country.

He said, “We have got a new Bangladesh because of the movement of the students. Now the reputation of our country has increased internationally. We all want to build a Bangladesh where there will be no discrimination.”

“The present interim government is thinking about reopening the closed industries, mills and factories in the country. If these are reintroduced, employment will be created for the unemployed,” he said.

He called upon the youth to come forward to stop child marriage and trafficking of women in the country.  As the programme is over, certificates and cheques were distributed among 21 trainee youths.

Later, KD Canal was cleaned in the Chikley Beel area of the city.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner attended another function held at the youth development training center as the chief guest and planted saplings of various species of tree.
