Rafiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and also accused of a murder case left the country on Saturday deceiving the eyes of law enforcers.
He managed to flee the country and took shelter in Türkiye after a case was lodged with the Uttara police station on charge of killing bus driver Alamgir Hossain during the Anti-discrimination Student-Public Movement.
Victim’s cousin Md Hasan lodged the case accusing 32 persons including Rafiqul Islam.
Acknowledging the case as FIR, court also asked the police to nab IUT VC Professor Rafiqul Islam and other accused.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Roads and Bridges Minister Oraidul Quader, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Atiqul Islam and Barrister Tapas, Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, former Minister of State for Information Mohammad A Arafat, former Cabinet Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar, Workers Party President and former Minister Rashid Khan Menon, Jasad president and former minister Hasanul Haque Inu and former minister Dilip Barua among others were also made accused in the case, said Uttara thana police.
