The Dhaka Social Forest Division has planted trees on 8 hectares of land in Birulia union in Dhaka to mitigate the impact of climate change.
The Forest Department operate the tree plantation program every year to prevent the dire effects of climate change and natural disasters and to protect the property of the forest department from encroachment, according to a press release.
In this regard, Gazipur’s Kaliakair range officer Monirul Karim and Baroipara beat officer Mahidur Rahman Joy said, miscreants are constantly destroying the forest and forcibly occupying the area for sale and cultivation. The forest department is working to save them by planting trees, they added.
