Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has announced that the government will request Interpol to issue a Red Notice for the arrest and return of fugitives allegedly involved in the killings and genocide during the student-led uprising in July and August.

“A Red Notice will be issued through Interpol very soon. No matter which country the fugitive fascist group is in, they will be brought back to face trial,” said the adviser while briefing journalists on Sunday after inspecting reforms at the International Crimes Tribunal.

“The interim government will take all necessary measures to bring the absconding accused to justice,” he added.

Regarding the complaint lodged by the Awami League with the International Criminal Court (ICC), Asif Nazrul said the ICC is unlikely to accept the complaint.

“The Awami League’s complaint was filed solely to tarnish the government’s reputation, and there is no reason for it to be accepted,” he added.
