Relatives of Russell Sarker, 30, whose body was recovered by police from the 2nd floor of a building at Uttar Gazirchar area in Ashulia of Dhaka on October 12, formed a human chain in front of Belkuchi police station in Sirajganj district on Monday demanding arrest and exemplary punishment to the killers.
They along with the local residents also brought out a procession that marched the main roads in the upazila town.
The demonstrators also complained against the inaction of the police, who are responsible to nab the killers.
Speakers at the demonstration said, police could not arrest the killers even after passing over a month from the date of occurrence and filling of the case. In contrary, victim’s family members are facing insecurity to lead their normal life as the accused and their men are constantly creating pressure for withdrawal of the case.
They complained that, police of the concerned thana are playing mysterious role over arresting the accused. As a result, the accused are creating pressure on the plaintiff for withdrawal of the case.
They urged the law enforcers to take immediate action against the culprits.
It is to be mentioned that, Russel was brutally killed by his rivals centering a dispute over money given to one of the accused named Abdul Matin for a job.
After the incident, victim’s father Babul Sarker filed a case with Ashulia police station accusing five persons including Matin.
