Former Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq and former Bhola-4 lawmaker Abdullah Al Islam Jakob have been placed on remand in separate murder cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahammed passed the order on Wednesday as police produced the former law minister and former Bhola-4 lawmaker before the court and pleaded for remand.
The court placed Anisul five-day remand in a case filed with Uttara East Police Station in Dhaka over the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim on August 5. Fazlul was shot and Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The court also placed Jakob on a three-day remand in a case filed over the murder of one Shamim Hawlader in Rupnagar during the mass uprising. Shamim got shot on July 20 in Probeshika intersection at Rupnagar. He died from his injuries in the hospital.
Meanwhile, Anisul Huq was arrested from the Sadarghat area as he along with Salman F Rahman was trying to flee Dhaka through the waterways on August 13. Abdullah Al Islam Jakob was arrested from Gulshan in Dhaka on October 1.
