Nine more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 436 this year.
During the latest 24-hour period, three deaths were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) region, five in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) region and one in Rajshahi Division (outside of the city corporation areas).
One thousand two hundred and fourteen more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever across the country over the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of them, 195 dengue patients were admitted in hospitals located under DNCC while 141 others were hospitalised in DSCC areas.
A total of 3,882 people diagnosed with dengue have been undergoing treatment across the country since the beginning of the year, according to the DGHS.
A total of 84,368 dengue cases have been recorded since 1 January 2024.
Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS recorded 3,21,179 dengue cases and 3, 18,749 recoveries last year.
