Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan on Sunday said that Comilla is set to be declared a new division soon.

He made the announcement on Saturday during a public reception in his hometown of Muradnagar, Comilla.

“Given its geographical significance, Comilla deserves to be a division. The decision will be implemented soon,” said the adviser while addressing the gathering at Muradnagar DR Government High School.

During his speech, Asif Mahmud stressed the importance of collective efforts for national progress. “While independence has been achieved, every citizen has a role to play in shaping a better future for the country,” he added.

The reception was chaired by Barrister Nasher Alam and attended by prominent local figures, including Asif’s father, Billal Hossain Master, and leaders from various political and community groups such as the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and Hefazat-e-Islami. Families of those martyred and injured during the July Revolution were also present.

Earlier in the day, the adviser held discussions with government officials at the Kabi Nazrul Auditorium, emphasizing the importance of local development and governance.
