A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sentenced four persons to life term imprisonment in a case filed over snatching money from a NGO activist putting him at gun point.

Supriya Rahman, elite Judge of Joint District and Sessions Judge Court in Sirajganj delivered the verdict.

The convicted are Golzar Hossain Rana, son of late Osman Fakir Sonaullah of Potazia village in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj district, Nazrul Islam, son of late Akbar Sheikh of Arengabaz village in Pabna Sadar upazila, Abul Hasem, son of late Nasir Uddin Nesar of Ghospara village in Sujanagor upazila of Pabna district and Hasan Ali Pramanik, son of Nazrul Islam of Joygram in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district.

Quoting the case brief, Md Hadiuzzaman Sheikh, APP of the court said, the accused snatched Tk 1,56,600 from Ashraful Islam, Field Officer of Sazeda Foundation on February 8, 2018, while he was returning to office after collecting installation money from the organization members of Barabil village.

The snatchers equipped with firearms along with three motorcycles intercepted him and took the money away putting raising gun.

Hearing the victim’s hue and cry, locals reached to the spot and rescued the victim. The rescuers also detained the attackers. Later, they handed them over to police after giving mass-beating.
