Police in a raid on Wednesday arrested two members of an inter-district dacoit gang from in front of Pangashi Degree College in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district.

The arrested are Md Sajeeb, 21, son of Abdul Hakim of Pashchimbati village in Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district and Monsur Ali, 55, son of Ekramul Hossain of Charia Kalibari village under Salongga police station in Sirajganj district.

Asaduzzaman, Officer in Charge of Raiganj police station told The Daily Sky that, a team of Raiganj thana police conducted a drive at the mentioned place early Wednesday on the basis of a secret information and arrested the duo, while they along with some other associates were preparing to commit dacoity in the area.

Though, police were able to nab the two, rest five to six other cohorts of their gang managed to flee the scene.

During the drive, police also seized various equipment including a mini pickup, two Hasua, a lock cutting machine, hammer and crowbar (Shabal) carried by them to use in dacoity.

The police officer also said that, there are several cases against the detainees in different police stations in Sirajganj, Dhaka, Manikganj, Gazipur and Bogura. Another case has been filed in Raiganj Police Station in this connection.
